CELEBRITIES like David Tennant and Jonathon Ross have been helping in the bid to find a missing schoolgirl from Hanwell, aged 14.

They have been re-tweeting appeals to their followers as police grow increasingly concerned for the welfare of Alice Gross.

She was last seen at 1pm last Thursday when she left her home.

She told her family she would be home later that evening but has not been seen since.

Her phone is turned off and her Facebook page is inactive.

Alice is described as 5ft 2in tall, of slim build with shoulder-length light brown hair.

She was last seen wearing dark blue jeans, a dark green lacy cardigan and blue denim 'Vans' shoes.

Officers say they are particularly concerned as she has not been in good health.

Officers are conducting searches and house-to-house enquiries in the Hanwell area, though a huge poster appeal has been widened to neighbouring boroughs.

TV stations have also been broadcasting news of Alice’s disappearance. Appeals were being made today to visitors to the London Mela at Gunnersbury Park and to runners on the Thames towpath.

On the Facebook group, Find Alice Gross, the Brentside High School pupil's sister, Nina, posted an appeal from their mother.

Rosalind Hodgkiss wrote: "Alice, if you can see this, please know sweetheart that all of us love you and miss you desperately.

"You may be sad, you may be angry, you may be hurt, you may be scared, too. I just want to hug and hold you.

"Know that we love you and are there for you whatever you are going through.

"My love, please get in touch and let someone know you are safe. Alice, please come home. Mum xxxxxx."

Anyone who has seen Alice or has information that may help the investigation should call officers from Ealing Missing Persons Unit on 020 8246 1018 or 101.
