SEARCH teams looking for the missing Hanwell schoolgirl Alice Gross last night (Tuesday) found a body in the River Brent.
Officers recovered the body from the water and it has now been removed from the scene.
Alice's family has been kept updated on this latest development.
Formal identification awaits and a post mortem examination will have to take place.
Commander Graham McNulty, speaking outside New Scotland Yard this morning, said considerable efforts had been made to conceal the body.
It was now being treated as a murder inquiry.
