THE group behind a new Ealing secondary school, due to open in September 2016 with 196 Year 7 pupils, is appealing to people to help it find a name.

It’s currently using the working title North Twyford CofE High School for the free school.

Twyford CofE Academies Trust has already held a number of public meeting and has a reference group that meet regularly.

Though the school will have much in common with its two sister schools, Twyford CE High and William Perkin CE High, it will also have its own unique identity.

It will serve the communities of North and Central Ealing and will inherit curriculum strengths in music and languages. It is also planned to have specialist training in food and catering.

Alice Hudson, executive head teacher said: “We were delighted to receive the news in October that the trust’s bid for a new school for Ealing had been successful.

“Subsequent feedback from the Department for Education indicated our track record at Twyford CE High and particularly at William Perkin CE High had stood us in very good stead in the evaluation process.

“We have set ourselves a deadline of aiming to open North Twyford (the school’s short term working title) in September 2016 and are working at a pace to try to realise this.”

The school is being set up with the support of London Diocesan Board for Schools, which has a track record for setting up popular new Church of England schools.

Some name ideas already received focus either on location or famous Ealing residents.
