MOBO award-winning singer-songwriter Laura Mvula is set to headline a concert in memory of murdered schoolgirl Alice Gross.

Mvula will perform at ‘A Concert for Alice’ at the Ambassadors Theatre on July 21 to raise funds for Alice’s Youth Music Memorial Fund.

The Sing to the Moon songstress said she feels ‘inspired’ by Alice Gross’ parents Ros Hodgkiss and José Gross.

She said: “I’m inspired that Alice’s parents, in the face of tragedy, have chosen to create this legacy – hopefully lots of people will be able to come and support a great cause.

“As an ambassador for Youth Music, I know the charity works hard to make sure that all children and young people have access to the experience of making music, regardless of their circumstances.

“For many who have taken part in Youth Music-funded projects, including myself, the experience can have a great and lasting impact.”

The concert is being produced by Forecast Academy, the performing arts school that Alice attended as a talented singer, songwriter and musician.

The memorial fund was established by Hodgkiss and Gross to provide a lasting legacy of music-making opportunities for disadvantaged children by supporting the work of Youth Music.

This national charity invests in more than 400 music projects around the country for children and young people facing significant challenges in their lives including disability, poverty, mental health issues or difficult life circumstances such as being brought up in care or being a refugee.

Mvula will be performing along with host of entertainers including West End star Julie Atherton, the X Factor’s Niki Evans and Lloyd Daniels, Britain’s Got Talent electro string quartet Escala along with the London Contemporary Voices choir and dance troupe ZooNation Youth Company.
