EALING children have the chance to bring their very own Lego creations to life in play sessions at libraries this summer.

Following last year's hit movie, children aged eight and over will be able to build up their technology skills and use computing to bring the classic construction bricks into the 21st century.

Lego Education will be launched with a free demonstration this Saturday, July 25, at Hanwell Library on Cherington Road, from 2.30pm to 4.30pm.

This will be followed with free taster sessions in libraries throughout August.

Children can pose with Lego Education figurines Max and Mia and upload their pictures to social media.

They build scenes with the brightly coloured interlocking bricks, along with rope and elastic bands, and set them in motion with gears, axles and pulleys.

They can then use StoryVisualizer software to import images of their scenes onto the screen.

Lego Education UK spokesman Neil Taylor said: “Lego Education are very pleased to be working in partnership with Cultural Community Solutions, who manage libraries on behalf of the local authorities in Ealing.

“We believe that the work being carried out will have a valuable and lasting impact on the children, families and other members of the community visiting the libraries and look forward to working with them over the coming years.”

The Lego club will be held at Hanwell Library weekly after school from September.

Sessions, including StoryStarter, MoreToMaths, WeDo, and Machines and Mechanisms, will cost £4, or £2.50 for library members.
