EALING Autumn Festival’s tribute to the 800th anniversary of the Magna Carta will include open days at Perivale and Southall before it moves on to two new venues next month.

Visitors have been admiring the Magna Carta Turns 800 exhibition since it opened in June, and the 26 vibrant paintings are touring libraries across the borough until the end of the year.

They are currently on display at Perivale Library, where an open day will be held this Saturday, August 29, 2-3pm, and Southall Library, with an open day on Saturday September, 11.30am-12.30pm.

The paintings are based on the coats of arms of the 25 Magna Carta barons and King John, who signed the document at Runnymede in 1215.

The exhibition is designed and organised by Diana Braybrook, a practising artist in west London, and tutor to the 4020 Art Group, based at Hanwell Community Centre.

Group members have each contributed a painting to the tribute, which celebrates the impact the Magna Carta has had on British beliefs in the rule of law and the right to a fair trial.

Next month the display will move on to Northolt Library September 7-26 and Pitshanger Library September 8-26. Open days will be held at Pitshanger on September 12, 2-3pm, and Northolt on September 26, 2-3pm.

Further Magna Carta themed festival events planned for October include a poetry day, a concert by the West London Sinfonia Orchestra, a three-day visit by a Russian choir from St Petersburg and a celebration of Black History Month.
