AN Ealing health and safety advisor has raised more than £1,300 for The Sick Children’s Trust after having a haircut for the first time in 24 years.

Nigel Dale, a member of the Ealing Eagles Running Club, also ran two half marathons within a fortnight last month, including the Royal Parks Half.

Mr Dale, 51, decided to bid farewell to his luscious locks when he wanted to up his target.

“When I suddenly joked about shaving all my hair off I suddenly got floods of donations in - that was the lightbulb moment,” he said.

He wanted to support the charity which supports families with seriously ill children in hospital.

The Sick Children’s Trust provides accommodation near the hospital in their ‘Homes from Home’ scheme.

Mr Dale, of Grange Park, said: “I have recently become aware of the charity and the fantastic work they do – it helps so many families who are in the worst imaginable situations by giving them somewhere to stay near their child while they are seriously ill in hospital, but also by giving families emotional support too."

Joy Darling, the charity’s Head of House Operations South, said: “To make our work possible, we need the continual support of people like Nigel.

“Thank you Nigel for being such a super supporter.”
