AN EALING man has been jailed for violently assaulting a woman in her Acton flat.

Abdirahman Ahmed Mohamed, 27, of Beech Avenue, pleaded guilty to two counts of actual bodily harm and was sentenced to two years and three months at Isleworth Crown Court on Monday November 2.

Mohamed went to a friend's flat in High Street one Sunday in May at about 11.20pm.

Mohamed had been drinking and the woman felt uncomfortable so called her cousin, a 31-year-old man, and asked him to come to her flat.

After a disagreement with the 28-year-old woman, Mohamed attacked her with a leather belt and punched her, causing her to fall to the floor.

He hit the cousin over the head with a glass bottle and metal bar.

Passers-by called police when they heard screaming and Mohamed was arrested. He was charged two days later with two counts of actual bodily harm.

Detective Constable Jaspal Bains said: "This sentence demonstrates the police and courts' commitment to ensuring those who engaged in violent activity are taken off our streets.

"This was a horrific unprovoked attack which took place in the victim's home address and having been asked to leave and refusing, he has violently assaulted the victim and her cousin causing injuries which required hospital."
