THE London in Bloom 2016 competition awarded its gold award to Hillingdon Council and its residents for their talents and hard work at Richmond Park last week.
After receiving 42 Green Flag awards (the most in the country) this summer, Hillingdon also went on to win in the Large City category on Wednesday, September 21.
Its many parks and open spaces were also rewarded individually.
Committed to maintaining and investing in its green spaces, the council works tirelessly with the borough’s residents, community and volunteer groups to ensure such spaces are at their highest standard.
Councillor Jonathan Bianco, Hillingdon Council cabinet member for finance, property and business services, said: “We are delighted with these results.
“A phenomenal amount of work has gone into making Hillingdon a gold award winner at London in Bloom.
“I would like to thank all the council staff, residents and volunteers who invested their time and energy into our fabulous parks and green spaces and would encourage everybody to go and explore them.”
The stand out winners for the day also included:
Highgrove Woods – gold and the Common of the Year category
West Drayton Cemetery – Winner of the Small Cemetery category
Polish War Memorial and Garden and Eastcote House Garden – gold in Park of the Year
Long Meadow and Pinn Meadows – gold in the Large Conservation category
