She already has three SSE Women’s FA Cup titles in her collection but Arsenal and England star Jordan Nobbs admits that missing out on a first-ever Wembley showpiece last season has made her all the more determined to add a fourth.

Since swapping Sunderland for the Gunners in August 2010, midfielder Jordan Nobbs has gone from strength to strength and now has 24 England caps to her name.

And she has also starred domestically, helping Arsenal to back-to-back league titles, four Continental Cups and SSE Women’s FA Cup titles in 2011, 2013 and 2014.

However, last season’s SSE Women’s FA Cup saw Arsenal dumped out by eventual champions Chelsea at the quarter-final stage.

That meant that 23-year-old Nobbs missed out on the first ever final to be played at Wembley, watched by a record crowd of 30,710 and a television audience of nearly two million.

But after heading down to St Joseph's RC Junior School in Wembley to help out with the fourth-round draw of this year’s competition as the FA and SSE announced that all children will be able to attend this year’s final for free, Nobbs insists she is not about to let lightning strike twice.

“Just being here for the draw is a bit of a reality check that the SSE Women’s FA Cup is back and to see the kids getting excited about it makes it even better for us,” said Nobbs, with Arsenal – who have won the SSE Women’s FA Cup a record 13 times, set to enter the competition in the fifth round.

“I think winning any trophy is going to give you a buzz, but the SSE Women's FA Cup really is one of the best.

“It's always had the best atmosphere since I was a child. Everyone always wants to be involved in it and I'm definitely keen for us to go all the way this year.

“I'm at a club like Arsenal because I want to be winning trophies, and of course last year was disappointing, but that has only spurred us on to want to do it this year.

“There's nothing more exciting than playing at Wembley. It was tough watching Chelsea lift the cup there last year but I believe we have a team that's definitely strong enough to get there.

“There have been a lot of surprises in the last couple of years, both in the league and the cup games, so I don’t think you can afford to take any team for granted. If you slip up once you’re out of the tournament.”

Despite not getting their hands on the SSE Women’s FA Cup title or the league trophy last season, all was not lost for Arsenal as they did triumph in the Continental Cup.

But even that did little to raise Nobbs’ spirits with the midfielder urging more from the Gunners ahead of the new campaign.

“We finished on a high last season by winning the Continental Cup, but we can't be leaving it until the last minute to be winning a trophy at a club like Arsenal,” added Nobbs.

“We need to be a little bit stronger as other clubs are developing as well.

“We've just come back from a preseason tour to Spain and I think we all feel a lot more ready for the season ahead.”
